What it does

What Is GTM Offline Conversion Tracking?

GTM offline conversion tracking is the process of using Google Tag Manager to capture form submissions on any website and send them to LeadTrackr with complete ad attribution data. Google Tag Manager is a tag management system that lets you deploy and manage marketing tags without editing website code. LeadTrackr provides a GTM tag template that, once imported, listens for form submission events on your site and captures the submission data along with click identifiers and UTM parameters.

This connection method works with any website platform including Webflow, Squarespace, custom-built sites, and even WordPress when the plugin approach is not preferred. LeadTrackr also supports server-side GTM for enhanced data accuracy and reduced client-side load. For advanced use cases, a REST API is available for fully custom integrations.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

We recommend using one or the other to avoid duplicate submissions. If you are on WordPress, the plugin is the easiest option. Use GTM for non-WordPress sites or if you prefer to manage all tracking through GTM. However, there is one valid use case for combining both: using the WordPress plugin for native WordPress forms while also using GTM to track embedded third-party forms like Typeform or Jotform that the WordPress plugin cannot detect.
Yes. LeadTrackr fully supports server-side GTM (sGTM) containers. This is ideal for setups where you want enhanced data accuracy, reduced client-side script load, and improved ad-blocker resilience. With server-side GTM, the form submission data is routed through your own first-party server endpoint before being sent to LeadTrackr. This provides better data quality and is increasingly recommended by Google for privacy-conscious implementations that rely on first-party data.
Any form that fires a detectable submission event in GTM can be tracked. This includes Webflow native forms, Typeform embeds, Jotform iframes, HubSpot forms, custom HTML forms, and any other form builder. If GTM can detect the submission through a form submission trigger, custom event, or postMessage listener, LeadTrackr can capture it. We provide pre-built trigger configurations for Webflow, Typeform, and Jotform to simplify setup for the most common platforms.
Yes. In addition to the GTM tag template, LeadTrackr offers a REST API that allows you to send lead submissions programmatically from any platform or custom-built application. The API accepts submission data including form fields, attribution parameters, and click identifiers. This is useful for platforms that cannot use GTM or for developers who want to integrate LeadTrackr directly into their application backend. API documentation and authentication details are available in your LeadTrackr account settings.
The LeadTrackr GTM tag includes a lightweight attribution script that runs on page load. It extracts click identifiers like GCLID and fbclid from the URL, reads UTM parameters, and stores them in a first-party cookie. When a form submission event triggers the tag, it reads the stored attribution data from the cookie and bundles it with the form submission data. This approach ensures attribution is captured even if the visitor navigates between pages before submitting a form.
