Shopify + ChatGPT Ads Integration

LeadTrackr sends Shopify orders — including in-store POS purchases — to ChatGPT Ads through OpenAI’s Conversions API, matching each order back to its oppref click identifier so conversion-optimised bidding trains on revenue rather than sessions.

LeadTrackr pushes the paid-order value to ChatGPT Ads via ChatGPT Ads Conversions API.

How do you send Shopify orders to ChatGPT Ads?

LeadTrackr reads Shopify orders and matches each to the ad click that started it, then posts the outcome to the ChatGPT Ads Conversions API server-side. It captures the oppref click identifier when a shopper arrives from a sponsored ChatGPT placement, ties it to the Shopify customer alongside hashed email and phone for advanced matching, and sends the order — online or in-store — with its total as the conversion value.

Why connect them

What Shopify + ChatGPT Ads unlocks

In-store revenue reaches the auction

Someone who asks ChatGPT for a recommendation and then buys in your shop leaves no trace in the browser. LeadTrackr matches that Shopify POS order back to the click, so the conversion the pixel never saw still trains bidding.

Order total as the conversion value

ChatGPT Ads conversion events accept a value, so each matched Shopify order is sent with its total. Conversion-optimised bidding then chases basket size instead of counting every order the same.

oppref tied to the Shopify customer

The __oppref cookie lasts 30 days. LeadTrackr writes the identifier onto the Shopify customer record on landing, so a purchase made later on a different device still resolves to the sponsored placement that earned the click.

Hashed matching as the safety net

Where oppref is missing, advanced matching runs on the hashed email and phone from the Shopify customer. Hashing happens inside LeadTrackr, so no raw shopper data is sent to OpenAI.

Shops sending real Shopify order revenue — in-store included — to ChatGPT Ads train conversion bidding on basket size from the start, on a channel most retailers have not measured properly yet.

How it works

Set up once, runs automatically

01

A Shopify order is placed

An order is created in Shopify — through the online store or rung up on Shopify POS in your shop.

02

LeadTrackr builds the server-side event

LeadTrackr matches the order to the stored oppref value via the customer record, adds the hashed email and phone, attaches the order total and stamps a stable event ID for deduplication.

03

Posted to the Conversions API

The event reaches your ChatGPT Ads Pixel ID over the server-side endpoint, attributed to the placement that earned the click, and conversion bidding steers toward the conversations that end in purchases.

FAQ

Shopify + ChatGPT Ads questions

Two reasons. Ad blockers and consent refusals mean a share of online checkouts never reach the browser pixel at all, and in-store POS purchases have no browser to fire from in the first place. The Conversions API covers both: LeadTrackr posts the order from the server whether it was placed online or at the till, so the bidding model sees the revenue rather than only the sessions that survived to a tracked checkout.
By deduplicating on a shared event ID. If the OAIQ pixel fires a purchase event and LeadTrackr posts the same order server-side, both must carry the same event ID or OpenAI counts the order twice and conversion bidding trains on inflated revenue. LeadTrackr generates a stable event ID per Shopify order for exactly this, so the two layers reconcile to one conversion.
The measurement case is straightforward: if you spend on the channel, the auction optimizes on whatever events it receives. Sending real Shopify order revenue rather than add-to-carts or sessions means bidding is trained on your actual margin from the first weeks, while cost per click on a young channel is still below mature platforms. Setting it up properly costs the same as setting it up badly.
